About

Hey. I'm Elliot.

Right now, I am based in Queensland, Australia but spent time as a child living in the US, Brazil, Singapore and China.

I am a co-founder of Maxwell Plus, where we use AI to improve direct to patient diagnostics to help find cancer earlier. We've developed and released our tools as a virtual care service to initially help men at risk of prostate cancer.

Previously I was a co-founder of Pepster, a hardware device to help kids with Cystic Fibrosis complete respiratory physiotherapy.

I also co-supervise two PhD students working in AI for medical imaging. They are exploring explainable AI and synthetic data generation for the training of AI.

I completed my PhD at the University of Queensland, designing hybrid MRI systems, specifically looking at the simulation and optimisation of gradient coils for MRI-Linac systems. Before that, I completed a Bachelor of Engineering as an electrical engineer, also at the University of Queensland. I spent a short amount of time working as an engineer for a mining company before deciding to focus on applying my skills in healthcare.

Painting with a broad brush, I am interested in AI, how we can use it to move towards human immortality and the effects it will have on us individually and as a collective.

Over the years, I have spent a lot of my time writing software, spanning web apps to embedded systems. I spend more time growing Maxwell Plus these days, but I occasionally work on code. When I do, it is likely python or rust.

My other interests are photography, playing video games, slowly learning to surf, and strength training.
